The City of Chicago extends
twenty-six miles along the western shore of Lake Michigan in Illinois. The city
extends twenty-one miles west of the lake and its suburbs span to the north,
west and south. The suburban communities to the south and southwest of Chicago
are referred to as the Southland.
The Southland region extends from the city fifty miles to the south and
southwest through southern Cook, Will and Kankakee counties. While the western
boarder is considered to be Joliet and the Illinois/Indiana boarder forms its
eastern side, businesses from the entire metropolitan area are active members
of the Chicago Southland Chamber of Commerce.
Not unlike all of Chicago, the Southland is replete with public transportation
within its region and into the central city of Chicago. New residents will find
the Southland transportation tremendously convenient.
The extensive cross section of Interstates to and from the region allows
business to distribute quickly to the entire country yet enjoy closeness to a
major metropolitan area.

Traffic in the Southland
moves better than any other area in the region. With over one-third of the
nation's cargo traffic moving through the Chicago area, the majority passes
through the Southland.
 Five
of the six major rail companies pass through the region and the Southland
continues to set a pace for new logistics, trucking and third-party
distribution centers available to serve your needs. The newly expanded and
convenient Midway Airport sits at the northern edge of the Southland Region and
a new South Suburban Airport at Peotone on our southern edge will complement
the most convenient transportation region of Chicago.
