Government Affairs

Encouraging advocacy among business leaders in the Chicago Southland area is the key mission of the Chamber’s Government Affairs Division. The Chicago Southland Chamber of Commerce has a strong commitment to both action and education related to government. This commitment fuels business advocacy to further the Southland’s regional economic objectives through:

  • Pro-Regional Advocacy
  • Member Communication
  • Semi-Annual Trip to State Capitol

The Government Affairs Division functions as a communications link among Chamber members. Awareness of key legislative issues as they arise is crucial to the key mission.

Building and deepening relationships with legislatures at all levels of government is another essential component. The Division hosts semi-annual visits to Springfield as one means of reaching its goals.

The Division contributes to the Southland Chamber's overall mission and initiatives through actions that include:

  • Set the Chamber’s legislative agenda
  • Track legislation
  • Provide updates to membership

To help nurture a stronger regional voice for business advocacy, add to the chorus by getting involved or contacting the Government Affairs Division.
